Springbok sits on the N7 national route in the Northern Cape, the largest town in Namaqualand and the natural overnight stop between Cape Town and the Namibian border. With around 13,000 residents, it is a working town of granite koppies and old copper-mine headgear rather than a resort, which keeps stays here to a small handful of family-run hotels and B&Bs on or near the N7. Most visitors pass through either chasing the Namaqualand wildflower bloom each August and September or breaking a long drive north or south, and both crowds want the same thing: an easy N7-adjacent base, a proper breakfast, and fast access to Goegap Nature Reserve on the edge of town.
