Local tips
- Book ahead if you want the boutique retreat's pool-facing or mountain-view room, since Piketberg has very few beds and they sell out fast on dry-season weekends.
- Drive the N7 rather than back roads after dark. It's the direct, well-maintained route between Cape Town and the West Coast towns north of here.
- Pack for self-catering. Most Piketberg stays include a kitchen, so a quick stop in town for supplies before you check in saves a return trip.
- Treat Piketberg as a stopover, not a destination in itself. Pair one night here with the Cederberg or the Swartland wine route rather than a full week.
