Stays in Worcester
Worcester lies in the Breede River Valley about 110 km northeast of Cape Town, roughly 90 minutes by road through the Huguenot Tunnel on the N1, and it is outside South Africa's malaria zones. Ringed by the Hex River and Brandwacht mountains, it is the commercial centre of one of the country's largest wine-producing areas, with many cellars along the Breede River towards Rawsonville and Robertson. Visitors can explore the Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden on the edge of town and the Worcester Museum, which recreates early farm life. The town is also a natural stop on the way to Route 62 and the Klein Karoo. Accommodation is limited and practical, mostly hotels and guesthouses suited to overnight stays and business trips.
